Took a few minutes to Jailbreak 2nd Generation iPod touch.

As mentioned on twitter I purchased a 2nd Generation iPod touch from Harvey Norman or (’Hardly Normal’ as some people call them, he he)

They had a special promo offer for Sat & Sun only. 8gb 2nd Gen Touch $299 (New Zealand dollars) instead of $389 which is the RRP. Many people may not that Apple has very slim margins for retailers. And I just wondered how much they were loosing on this sale. I estimate they are loosing at least $50-60 each sale maybe more, margins on iPods are often 3% if your lucky.

Sales person naturally tries to get you to purchase additional accessories e.g. case, power supply etc and of course an additional warranty. I declined all naturally!

What a deal.

Just a warning the firmware on my Touch was 2.2.1 as many may not know this but it will cost you to upgrade to the latest 3.0 firmware for all earlier model Touch users. There is a simple fix for this. Just browse around or google and you will find the 3.0 firmware for touch including install instructions and you will not have to pay Apple for the update.

Just downloaded the wordpress plugin for iPhone. First post. Now it should be easy to blog where ever I go.

Well in case you missed it. Apple has new iPods which were released earlier this month. Check out the new iPods which include the iTouch along with the new iPhone and iPod classic plus a totally revised iPod nano

Today was the day I got the Apple TV. First impression is, its a lot bigger than you think. I originally thought it was the same size as the mac mini but its quiet a bit bigger. Still very small and compact though.

Will put more info over the coming weeks when I start to play around with it and see what it can do.

Apple TV to have Youtube

Apple TV users will soon be able to browse and watch Youtube videos on the big screen. This is expected to be available mid June. Wow another reason to get an Apple TV

Apple also announced they have a new 160gb Apple TV which sells for $659 NZ dollars.
