I saw the The Cove at Christchurch’s Regent on Worcestor.
It had been recommend by a friend and the do a few movie reviews for a well known US website. They said if you get a chance to see this movie you should, out of all the movies he had reviewed this year, he said this was the best.
Hmmm….. I thought to myself, WOW! Coming from a professional movie reviewer. I better take the time to see this movie.
A little about The Cove from Corny reviews website ……
The film is directed by photographer Louis Psihoyos, a magazine photographer and documentarian whose head was turned around when he met dolphin activist Ric O’Barry. Once one of the leading dolphin trainers in the world — his final job being TV’s “Flipper” — O’Barry flipped to the other side when he realized how miserable (he would say suicidal) the captive dolphins were. He became a vigilante about freeing dolphins that were part of marine-park dolphin shows (hello, Seaworld?) and swim-with-the-dolphins parks. O’Barry, in turn, told Psihoyos about Taiji, Japan, which is secretly the world’s largest unofficial abattoir — slaughterhouse, in other words — for dolphins. Though the Japanese government protects the locals who undertake this barbaric practice, O’Barry knew that this one place accounted for the senseless killing of tens of thousands of dolphins each year.
This movie seriously is a MUST see. I wanted to do an in depth review of this movie but instead I suggest you check The Cove Movie review at Corny reviews. Very in depth review, a great read too. You can see the movie trailer on The Cove movie website.
Once you have seen the movie then you should head go to Takepart and do you bit!
Saw the latest Transformers 2 movie at Sky City in Auckland.
Hmm.
Great or was it?
I have mixed thoughts about it. I kinda started to get bored part way through. I guess there is only so much Hollywood computer animated and enhanced images I can take.
Oh well.
I hear they are already making Transformer 3. Just jokes, but they probably are anyway.
Watched a New Zealand film titled
Topless Women Talk About Their Lives check website for detailed info about this film.
The Plot:
Liz has missed an appointment to have an abortion. She has to keep her child, and neither her boyfriend Geoff nor child’s father Neil are too happy about it. She can not decide which partner is better for her, and Neil makes a proposal to her when they attend the wedding of her best friend Prue and Mike. She probably prefers Geoff, but he is preoccupied with his girlfriend Bryony, who returned from abroad. Another friend, Ant, has written a script for documentary film, which is directed by a German and in which topless women, well, talk about their lives.
Certainly a must see movies rated 8/10
Kiss Kiss Bang bang is a murder mystery brings together a private eye, a struggling actress, and a thief masquerading as an actor.

Flight of the Conchords is a TV Series which follows the trials and tribulations of a two man, digi-folk band from New Zealand as they try to make a name for themselves in their adopted home of New York City. The band is made up of Bret McKenzie on guitar and vocals, and Jemaine Clement on guitar and vocals.
Bret and Jemaine have moved to New York in the hope of forging a successful music career. So far they’ve managed to find a manager (whose “other” job is at the New Zealand Consulate), one fan (a married obsessive) and one friend (who owns the local pawn shop) — but not much else.
Flight of the Conchords was aired for a whole season by HBO network in the USA. The americans just love it. FOTC starts here in New Zealand on Prime TV on September 17th. FOTC is not your typical american sitcom, these guys take it to the next level. A fantastic comedy duo. How they manage to mix comedy, music and Kiwi culture into a show that is hilarious, silly but oh so addictive…… well they earn my respect.
Sony pictures presents Superbad.
It is a teen movie, so ‘Superbad’s plot is obviously basic. It’s the performances of the 3 friends (Seth, Evan, and ‘McLovin’ Fogell) that really make it great.
The Mclovin fake ID card is classic, check out the id below.

Its a real teen movie but has a few laughs.
I give the movie a 6.5 out of 10 (Yes I know it just I don’t think I could watch it again)
Last night we watched the new The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) movie with Matt Damon in it. Its of course the latest and hottest movie out right now. Watched it at home and it was supper action packed it failed to excite me that much.
I rate the movie 6/10
Himalaya
Unlike the overproduced and overbudgeted Hollywood blockbusters, Himalaya is a stunningly photographed movie that offers an intimate look into the lives of a Dolpo tribe.
I give it a 7.5/10 rating.
Watched the movie Pursuit of Happiness with Will Smith.
Was recommend by a few people so thought I better watch it. Its worthwhile seeing and I rate it 7.5/10.
Apocalypto The Mayan kingdom faces its decline, the rulers insist the key to prosperity is to build more temples and offer human sacrifices. Jaguar Paw (Youngblood), a young man captured for sacrifice, flees to avoid his fate.
This was the second time I had seen this movie and its got some fantastic cinema photography the story is at times rather graphic. I give it a 8/10 overall.
